Chatham County Fire Department and Tybee Island Fire Rescue personnel recently completed the Apparatus Operator Pumper (AOPP) Certification course, further strengthening the region’s emergency response capabilities and commitment to professional development.
The intensive two-week course consisted of 80 hours of classroom instruction and hands-on practical training focused on advanced apparatus operations. Participants were trained in apparatus pumping operations, emergency vehicle driving, water supply and distribution, and tender operations, all essential skills that support safe and effective fireground operations.
The certification program is designed to prepare firefighters for increased operational responsibilities while enhancing leadership and technical proficiency within the fire service. Through realistic training scenarios and practical evolutions, personnel gained valuable experience operating fire apparatus under emergency conditions and managing critical water supply operations.
