Captain John-William Farrell Named Recruitment Officer for Chatham County Fire Department

In this role, Captain John-William Farrell will help lead recruitment initiatives focused on attracting the next generation of firefighters. His responsibilities will include engaging with prospective applicants, supporting outreach efforts, and sharing the opportunities, professionalism, and culture that define Chatham County Fire Department.

Recruitment plays a critical role in maintaining a highly capable and service-driven fire department. By connecting directly with individuals interested in public safety careers, Captain Farrell will help ensure applicants gain a clear understanding of the expectations, training, and rewarding experiences that come with serving the community as a firefighter.

While assuming these additional responsibilities, Captain Farrell will remain assigned as Captain on Truck 307 (A Shift). Continuing his operational leadership on the front lines allows him to bring current, real-world experience into the recruitment process offering prospective members an authentic perspective on life in the fire service.

This dual role reflects the department’s belief that strong leadership extends beyond emergency response. By mentoring future firefighters while actively serving the community, Captain Farrell embodies the mission and values of Chatham County Fire.

Captain Farrell was born and raised in North Miami Beach. He obtained his fire certification at Miami Dade Fire Academy in 2020 and has six years of dedicated service to Chatham County.
