Chatham County Commission Approves Intergovernmental Agreement for Tactical Medic Integration

The Chatham County Board of Commissioners approved an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with the City of Savannah to allow the Chatham County Fire Department to provide pre-hospital medical support during special operations for the Savannah Police Department.

The Special operations Unit- CTAC (Chatham County Tactical Aid and Care), is a collaboration not only with Savannah Police Department but Chatham County Police, and the Chatham-Savannah Narcotics Unit. Under this agreement, a Tactical Medic from Chatham County Fire, authorized, trained, and licensed as a Paramedic, would serve alongside Savannah Police during high-risk operations. These operations include, but are not limited to, SWAT missions, explosive ordinance disposal, dive team deployments, high-risk warrant services, barricaded subject or hostage situations, and counter-narcotic operations.

This partnership reflects the City and County’s shared commitment to enhancing public safety and ensuring effective, transparent, and efficient government services in alignment with the community’s Quality of Life goals.
